This is awesome, its funny everytime you watch it.

I'm flippin tired

I'm always really tired. For a couple years I've been blaming it on lack of sleep, not enough sunshine, Too much pressure from my job, earwax build up, poor blood, or anything else I could think of, But now I found the real reason: I'm tired because I'm overworked. Here's why:
The population of this country is 273 million.
140 million are retired.
That leaves 133 million to do the work.
There are 85 million in school, which leaves 48 million to do the work.
of this, there are 29 million employed by the federal government, leaving 19 million to do the work.2.8 million are in the armed forces, preoccupied with war. This leaves 16.2 million to do the work.
Take from the 14.8 million people who work for the state and city governments, and that leaves 1.4 million to do the work.
At any given time there 188,000 people in hospitals, leaving1,212,000 to do the work.
Now, there are 1,211,998 people in prisons. That leaves just two people to do the work. You and me! And there you are, sitting at your computer, reading this junk. Nice. Real nice.

This is Funny and Educating

Well-Rounded

Every person in their lifetime pursues a goal or aims to achieve a well-rounded balanced lifestyle. I think that should be a main focus in a college career is to take up an instrument, speak fluently in another language or appreciate the arts. Sure, the core requirements you need to graduate entitle an art appreciation class or two years of a language. Honestly, how much of those classes go into part of your well-being and a more worldly person. Really, most people want to get through those classes and/or get around them in order to get to their classes that "matter".
Think about it though. Who gets the job? The nerd with no social skills or problem solving capabilities or the well-rounded, people-person that has a fair amount of life experiences in order to apply them to every day life? I would hire the person who is going to mesh well into my company and has many other skills and interests other than his/her career choice. So the next time you take an art appreciation class or have some free time, take up a dance class or an instrument, and enjoy learning other things that will make you into a well-rounded member of society or a more sharpened instrument for that counter-society.

Progressivation in the Game Industry

It wasn’t long ago that nerds and geeks were considered uncool and were essentially untouchable. There has been a gradual lessening of this stigma with the rise in popularity of video games. In recent years this is especially true. The gaming industry has become excellent at making games with mass market appeal. In lieu of turning out plot heavy dungeon crawlers there have been numerous first person shooter releases. It used to be that students would fail out of college because of World of Warcraft, now it is becoming common for individuals to fail out because they got caught up playing Nazi zombies. It’s nice to see nerdy things become more accessible and less damnable, but at the same time I hate to see the dilution of an industry that holds a great deal of personal significance.

Steriogram - Walkie Talkie Man

I LOVE this song and this video makes it so.much.better. It make me happy. :) I think everyone should watch it!

The Legend of Zelda Rap

I'm an 80's baby and Legend of Zelda is synonymous with my childhood.  The beat they remixed this with is catchy and the inside references to certain parts of the games let the gamer nerd in me squeal like a "Glee" fan at their first Broadway show.  I put this in the same league as the "Dick in a Box" song from Saturday Night Live.  ENJOY!!!!

"The Unforgiven II "

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_yK0xOZgro

By far one of my favorite Metallica Songs!! It's not a fancy video, there are no special effects or anything like that, but if you think about it, the video is pretty expressive.

music video..

just because i find it funny. =]

Army's music video "Steel Ding Dong"

Ok it may not be a real music video, but it is a funny parody.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XquUH6vjjLY

Music Video

This song is by 3 Doors Down. I love their music and I think this song is very touching and the music video goes well with that. Just to think one guy made a big impact on that one family by saveing their lives. Beautiful music video in my opinion.

Have Some Pancakes!!

Ive already posted, but this guy is awesome, definitely worth watching!!!

8 bit trip

This music video has amazing visual effects and brings me back to the original Nintendo era, where 8 bit sound was ground breaking, 16 bit graphics were unbelievable, and the fact that you could control a digital life on a television was incomprehensible. My sister showed this best when she used to pull the cord out of the console trying to get Mario to jump instead of pressing the button... good times.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qsWFFuYZYI

Social Outcast

My band is named Social Outcast. We're modeled after various different styles of rock music; going back and forth between harder and softer rock songs. Most of the songs are just about growing up. We're influenced by bands such as Avenged Sevenfold, Lifehouse, Thriving Ivory, Breaking Benjamin, and Shinedown.

Music video

White and Nerdy by Weird Al Yankovich. I think this song is incredibly witty and satirical. It makes fun of everything I love about nerds.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9qYF9DZPdw
http://youtu.be/o9IXAJg4Vm0

This video by bone thugs and harmony is one of my favorite of all times, because of the story it tells and how emotionally charged it is.  It uses all aspects of the production, visual, lyrical, and auditory, all as a rhetorical device to evoke emotion in the viewer.  This is a great example of where something like a music video transcends mere entertainment and becomes a theatrical event.

Safe and Sound

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RzhAS_GnJIc
This is Taylor Swift's new song, Safe and Sound, and I generally don't care too much about the music she makes but this song refers to the Hunger Games! A series of books that were amazing, and this song is such a dark representation of those books. It's a different direction for her to take and I applaud her for that.

“All Summer Long”, by Kid Rock

One of my favorite music videos' is by Kid Rock, “All Summer Long”, because it reminds me of the good times I had while stationed at Fort Eustis, Virginia. It was a memorable time as a young 21 year old, the experiences I had like, drinking for the first time. Short, sweet, and fun!

Michelle

I like this video because of its simplticity, and even through its simpleness it covers a whole lot, on why this guy likes what he does and in the end, it shows that he loves his country and I think thats awesome.

Favorite Music Video- Tim McGraw Still

This is my favorite video because McGraw talks about a place that everyone knows.  That place is home and that is the place where you are most comfortable and safe.

Fallin'

I don't have a favorite music video, but Alicia Keys is one of my favorite artists so I chose this video because it always reminds me of when I first heard her songs and immediately became a fan and had to go buy this CD.

Björk - "Army of Me"

Björk is one of my favorite musical artists, not only do I love her whimsical voice, but also her weird music videos.  In "Army of Me" who knows what caused her to choose a gorilla to be a dentist, or why her truck has a mouth, but it is definitely worth watching.  This video caused me to turn to Björk.  The video tells a story in an extremely random sort of way.

Jessie J - Big White Room (Live Acoustic Music Video) w/ lyrics

I loove this song!! one of the main reasons why i posted his music video was because its not a legit musc video, so to me there was no room for being distracted by visual effects or anyhting like that, my main focus was on the song and the artist adn I really really like how sincere the artist is and you can tell she really means what shes singing by herr facial expressions. Her voice is so amazing and the riffs in it are bananas and i just love everything about the video and Jessie J. Point blank period.

Jessie J - Big White Room (Live Acoustic Music Video) w/ lyrics

Music Video

The music video I chose is called Mama's Song by Carrie Underwood. I can't say that I even have a favorite music video, but I really like this one because it reminds me of my mom and how she is really important to me and supports me in every choice I have made throughout life.

Pomplamoose

This music video that I discovered for an earlier blog post has become a favorite of mine very quickley. It is the music video to Pomplamoose's Bust Your Knee Caps. The video is extremely well done especially considering the duo produced it themselves. The song has a wonderful contrast between lyric material and musical style and it is really just fun even if it is in an off way. Everyone should watch it.

So like, two nights ago i posted a status update on facebook that said i was in the mood to litsten to some great voices, and this guy that I went to high school told me about this band, Blind Pilot.  So, i listened to a song called Story I Heard.  I listened to it and it was pretty cool. They had like a super mellow feel and sounded super under ground.  The lead singer had a great voice that wasnt edited in any kind of way and it was really raw.  It wasnt the best voice I've ever heard, but it fit the instumentals well and it made it unique and they had a tamborine which is super cool. :) It reminded me of a track you'd hear on the soundtrack of an indie movie about teens who sell drugs or have depressing lives and commit suicide.  Yea it's kind of dark I know but thast the vibe I got.
If i had a band of my own, I would name my band The Dancing Nancies. Of course I would have to ask the Dave Matthews Band if I could do that because they have a song titled that, but i think it’d be cool because my group would sing a lot of r&b music and the name gives it an ironic feel because the Dave Matthews Band does mostly like, rock music or whatever genre they do. I don’t even think they follow a specific genre, but yea we would do mostly r&b and hip hop, and dance...duh :)

The Bro's

would be my band name. we will play various genres of music such as hip hop, punk and etc. we will be modeling ourselves after the group OFWGKTA, led by Tyler the Creator.

Obsidian

If I had a band, it would probably be a girl band that would be something with major influences from  Deftones, Kyuss, and Kittie.

Bantha Bashers

My band would be called the Bantha Bashers. The reason for that name is because I would likely be in a band with my best friends, whom are all nerds. Currenty all of us are on a Star Wars kick.  It would be a nerdcentric band with similar styling to Nerf Herder.  I have a deep appreciation for music that talks about nerd things. Besides, if you are going to make music you may as well make music about things you care about. Giving people a laugh at nobody's expense isn't bad either.

SLOTH industrial-gothic-rock

The Name of my band would be SLOTH
We would produce heavy industrial rock, overlayed with haunting melodies, as well as some ballads
I would need a guitarist, drums, and synthesizer, along with a female lead vocalist.
A performance interest would be necessary, as I would like to makes shows as much a spectacle for the eyes as for the ears, crazy costumes, pyrotechnics, and set dressings and lyrics thick with occult references.

The Unseen Promise

The name of the band would be the Unseen Promise. We would play a lot of alternative and contemporary music. The band would focus on having only one lead singer with the rest of the members playing instruments. The band would model itself after The Killers, She & Him, Coldplay, Owl City, and NeverShoutNever.
I would take an interesting route and call the band "Feral Puppies" its an interesting name and its funny. The band would play alternative and punk type music like Panic! At the Disco, Death Cab for Cutie, Breaking Benjamin, and Taking Back Sunday.

The Four of Us

If I were to put a band together I would name it “The Four of Us.” Simply because my life revolves around my family and we are made up of four. Our music would be inspired by Jimmy Buffett’s laid back beach tempos mixed with rock styles of The Engels. I dream that one day our family will lounge around on the beach sipping on ice cold drinks while watching the sunset fade away.
Michelle

The Koffeechop

My band would be called The Koffeechop. There wouldn't be a lead singer. The music would allow solos, yet be interdependent. The band would be influenced by Beethoven, The Roots, Evanescence, five underground turntablists,DJ Tiesto, and Timbaland. The mixture would be able to produce on such a dynamically powerful level that show goers would leave with busted hearts and a new hair style. Cheers.

The Band: Cover

My band will be called, “The Band: Cover.” We will be a little indie band who only plays cover songs because we only have singing and instrumental talents and just won’t have the time to write music... We will cover a wide range of genres such as country, pop, rock, gospel, and some alternative.

Belles of Blue

My band name would be Belles of Blue and we would play R&B music. We would model after artists like Alicia Keys and Lauryn Hill.
My band would be The Good Times,
It would be modeled after old and new country music with hints of hip-hop. Giving it that little bit to stand on it's own.

A Brand New Band

Already being a member of a band is helpful though I am not the lead singer. I rather enjoy the style of music we play. It is psych-folk music with a focus on chord texture and harmony rather than on melody. The music is peaceful and/or contemplative and uses a wide variety of instruments from standards like the bass, vocals, percussion and piano, to less common instruments like the viola, accordian, melodica, and saw (acoustic theremin). If I was the lead singer of a band I would like to take this same style and infuse it with ska, creating some more upbeat lines and the general energy that comes with brass instruments. Bands that would be of influence would include Reel Big Fish, Beirut, and local talent Sweating Honey. My current band name is Heifa, taking much influence from the band Beirut. As far as a name, maybe something like "Keep the Nostalgia at Bay". It's a start though coming up with names was never really my thing. I'm thinking about the feeling that the style of music evokes for me. Both Ska and Folk music give me a reminiscent/ponderous feeling.  I'm also thinking of places in my past that evoke the same feeling such as Hanelei Bay and Monterrey Bay, amongst others.

Two-Handed Takedown

THT would be a rock band with a female singer somewhat inspired by Paramore but more punk less of a teenage audience oriented group. Singing about what pisses them off and brings light to the messed up parts of society.

Start a Band

Band Name:  The Old Way

Our band play mostly cover music.  We play songs that most have forgetten or way have not even heard of.  The purpose for are band doing this is the show people songs and bands that started the music that we listen to today.  We don't want these bands to be forgetten and want their music to live on.  We model oursevles after CCR, Lyrnyrd Skynyrd, and many other bands that came out of the 50s, 60s, and 70s that really changed the kind of music people listen to today.

The Vincent Black Shadow

So, I got on google and just did a search for "unheard of bands" and a bunch of hits came up. I just picked a yahoo answers one because they usually have good answers. Ha! I did a bunch of just copy and pasting to itunes to check everyone out and this band(the vincent black shadow) really stood out, as well as a few others.. They just have a beat that makes me dance with my head(not a full on dance in my chair but, some nods and move it from side to side). haha! I would say this blog assignment was a success on all levels! :D

Tyler the Creator- Yonkers

just heard this song my coworker played while closing our store, the beat was pretty chill. kind of had that horror vibe, but still chill. then he started rapping and oh man it was insane. he has a diabolical mind and it feels he is 2 different persons. i give him a thumbs up, a different style of rap.

Mabey Random isn't Good

I just googled underground bands, choose a random-ish letter, ‘k’, and the first band that was from the U.S.A. because I wanted it to be in English and it ended up being a band called “Kalibas”.  I then listened to the first song they had on utub, which ended up being a song called “Reroute The Foul”.  I don’t listen to a lot of music or metal for that matter, but I doubt this is how all or most metal sounds.  Can’t say I am impressed, it was about four minutes of constant roaring and yelling sounds.  I should have asked a friend for a recommendation instead of my attempt of randim-ish selection.
If there is one thing that frrustrates me most, especially living here in Fairbanks, is girls who wear Ugg boots and yoga pants, like everyday and year round.  It kills me eveytime I see a girl wearing them.  Like this morning you couldn't put on a pair of jeans?? Does it take that much effort?? Not really.  And i think that alot of girls do it just to show their asses off, when really, yoga pants just show every dimple and bump. I understand if a girl is having a lazy day and just isn't in the mood to wear jeans, but everyday ladies?? Really?? I feel like at a certain age women and ladies alike need to get out of the boots and yoga pants.  If a grown ass lady doesn't have the decency to put on a pair of jeans than no one will ever take you seriously on the street, and all men will think you are still in high school.

" Somebody I used to know "

I was trying really hard to find something that is completely out of my reach, so I checked the German charts to see if there’s anything that I hadn’t heard of. Sure enough, there was this song in the top 5 I actually heard my mom tell me about a few weeks ago, saying it was an absolute hit in the Netherlands right now- so I checked it out.
It’s from Gotye ft. Kimbra called “
Somebody I used to know “ and it’s actually really- really strange (... just like the music video btw). I haven’t decided yet if I like it or not, I guess it’s something that I would have to hear “in context” if that makes any sense ? It definitely has a more European vibe, but I think if I heard it a couple more times I could start feeling it. I like that the lyrics are simple, but meaningful.

Bleached/Pomplamoose

The band bleached is an alternative rock group from California whose members are two women. Their music is in general seems very upbeat. Both the song Electric Chair and  No Friend of Mine have a peppy upbeat rock rhythm with thrashy vocal lines that are not pure but also not screaming. The lyrics defy the mood set by the music of the piece. While the music is carefree in nature the lyrics hit on topics like loneliness, death, and anger. It certainly is an interesting contrast.

Another band I stumbled on while searching is Pomplamoose and their song Bust Your Knee Caps. The video is definitely worth watching and it has a more interesting contrast between lyric material and music. The music is set to a fifties style rock that has a bit of a doo-wop feel. The song is about a woman and her family with mob ties. It is really funny in an off sort of way. There is a part in the video where the singer smiles and it takes me aback due to the nature of the lyrics of the song. I would highly recommend watching/listening to this one.

Jared Moehlin

I actually went to school with this artist.  I also played on the football team with him.  So far what he has out is a mix tape called The Day of Yester which can be found on reverbnation.com.  Pretty much what the mix tape is about is life in Alaska an what he has done up here.  I was actually surprised when I found out of his mix tape because everyone that is featured on his songs I also know.  In all I found it really cool to know someone who is trying hard to make in the music industry especially as a rapper.  But if you ask me he is better than Mac Miller.  Also to me the best song on the album is called Summer time Livin.

Owl City

I was scanning though YouTube links trying to find a band I haven’t heard of before and I found this band called Owl City. The music is amazing, well to my standards at least. Most of his songs are cheery and others are really deep and emotional. The songs he plays have a great beat to them and it’s really nice to lay back and listen to the music. This might be my favorite band for about a week now.  ^.^

Suicide Silence

My best friend made me listen to a band named suicide silence. They're one of those hardcore screamo bands I've never really been into. That type of music all sounds the same to me and this band wasn't much different. The only real difference I could find is that there music is a lot more structured than most screamo songs. The songs actually sound like they have verses and choruses.

Lana Del Rey

Lana Del Rey is a new artist, that I have never listened to. Her song "Born to Die" is depressive. The song talks about the time before one dies and to choose how you live it wisely as we all are Born To Die.
Her lyrical style is dark and seems as if she has experienced many hardships throughout her life. Consumers who like dark music, depressive, and dissonant lyrics could appreciate her style.
A band that I haven't heard of but listened to a couple of their songs was Killing Hannah, there music was intresting for a rock band it is soft in terms of vocally compared to the others rock songs that I have heard before, but when reading the lyrics and listening to the song it has a different meaning. The softness has a depper meaning than previously thought.

I See Stars

My boyfriend and his roomate are always playing screamo and all sorts of interestingly defiant music so I thought I'd steal something of theirs that I haven't listened to so I listened to Wonderland by I See Stars. I looked up the lyrics to read along with it and it's really cool. I liked the main chorus that plays off of why do you look so blue in the meaning of sad and because he's holding his breathe for someone that doesn't feel the same way. I love when lyrics have double meanings and make you think deeper about what they really meant or what it means to you personally.

Daft Punk

I first heard of Daft Punk from my nephew Steven. I like Daft Punk because it takes me back to the 80’s when big hair and pants was the way to go. The band reminds me of the Prince mixed with a little Metallica twisted up with electronic keyboards. The band’s beats are very fast. The band has managed to capture a unique interchangeable instrument composition that makes their tempos unpredictable. I am just finding this out now, Daft Punk composed the movie score for the movie Tron Legacy in 2010.
Michelle

Michael Franti

Michael Franti is not a unknown artist to me, but I have never listened to him with the knowledge of who he was and for what he stood.
Well technically I only knew one song, "Oh My God."
Franti's music seems to be inspired by all types of music.  There is definitely influence from R&B, hip hop, reggae, alternative, jazz, with big hints of Ben Harper, Wycleff from the Fugees solo projects, and so much more.
Franti doesn't just make music to make music, but his lyrics come with meaning to the world, reminiscent of Bob Marley.  In the year 2000, Franti decided to try and go without shoes for 3 days to toughen up his feet and see what it is like in poverty.  A barefoot 10 years later, he has launched a number of campaigns and concerts to provide shoes for the needy.

If you are a fan of some good and chill music, check him out.

The Detroit Cobras

I have never heard of The Detroit Cobras, but my aunt's friend introduced her to their music and she in turn introduced them to me. I listened to a few of their songs and found their sound pretty interesting. When I played the first song, it had a total retro-rock feel. From the small sample of songs I listened to, I enjoyed Boss Lady the best.

Phish

I've heard of the band Phish but I have never listened to them. My twin sister is a huge fan and even went to New York City to see them in concert for four days during New Years Eve. Still, I haven't listened to the music but turns out they are really popular. The band consists of four members: Trey Anastasio on the guitar, Mike Gordon on the bass, Page McConnel on the piano, and Jon Fishman on the drums.  They play a vast array of music from bluegrass, rock and roll, and even the occasional barber shop quartet.  Basically they are a jam band and play everything.  They are improv masters and you probably won't hear the same song played the same way twice.  They go on long experimental tangents and segue seamlessly into new songs. Their sound is very diverse. They play very loud and then extremely soft and quiet. They can get very low and very high. Each member adds a unique characteristic to the band.

Foster the People

Don't Stop (Color on the Walls), is a very up beat song. Even tough I never heard it before, this song takes me back to when I was in high school, the rhythm itself makes me want to rock out. I will admit, for most of the song I have no idea what they are talking about, but the beat is awesome.
