People everywhere want to go out and have a good time. The difference of those in Europe or the U.S.
is the risks they are actually taking when doing so. In Germany, when you are out with friends, it
is easy to go to a bar, have a few drinks and walk home, take a streetcar, or
the bus.
It is so frustrating that safety is so extremely costly
here. Not only is there barely any
public transportation available in the U.S. (maybe some if you live in huge
cities such as New York), but you also don’t have the right to walk home. What is expected of those that cannot afford
to take a cab? They are going to drink regardless,
but whether they walk or drive, if a cop stops them, they are going to
jail.
